+1 for technology

I love randomly checking out a bands myspace page and finding a new song. Something I’ve never heard before, something to get excited about, and an indication that more new songs and hopefully a new album and corresponding tour are in the works.

I just did some MySpace band page hopping… I started off with Amy Millan (I was checking her upcoming tour dates; she’ll be in Vancouver in the fall!) and surprise surprise ended up on the page for Stars, where I discovered they have a new song up: Division. A great track and definitely a sign of the good things to come.

In addition to hearing a great new song for the first time which is always a memorable experience, I got to re-experience an “older” favourite: Midnight Coward.  All in all props to technology (and I suppose MySpace for giving me unlimited streaming of some of my favourite music) for a sweet surprise, a flicker of anticipation, and a little reminder that amid all clutter, the overwhelming number of songs on my ipod, are some great tracks I should never forget.
